It's the same Carlos--they jumped 5 yrs either last season or the one before..I think it was 2 yrs ago now...
Ita on HK...I prefer GR when he is HELPING people's restaurants turn around--he's much nicer and he can spot talent. I've seen him be much different on several shows so I think HK is an act...
Yeah, Jamie is more about helping kids learn about food..he single- handedly changed what kids in schools now eat in Britian ..it was a ton of work, and he was constantly overbudget but he did it. A few months ago, they showed him trying to do the same in US schools and it went off the air in about 5 eppies..lol
I was shocked most young kids couldn't tell a carrot from a turnip and didn't know what celery was...sad state of affairs.
In Canadian High Schools you rarely get hot food served. So, it's not an issue here (and you def don't see it in younger grades) You are expected to bring your own lunch or in my case we had a sub place/McD's across the street. Honestly I think I went over once a yr for each. lol I lived off packed lunches--didn't have $$ for crap like that.
I'll say this though..I have a friend who's 5 yr old looks about 8 because he's so big, all he eats is crap and when he's done with that, he wants more and she caves. I hope she gets a grip on it soon because once you start down that path, it's hard to break it.
I know living on my own, I struggle with meals. It would be so much easier to order in but it gets pricey fast and I have too much else to do with my $$$ So I usually order in about 4 times a yr and STILL end up feeling ripped off.

Is that the new one with SWC? The zombie one? I keep hearing about it but have never watched if that's the one...

Yeah, that's the one. I love zombie flicks so was excited to hear there was an actual tv series about zombies and the fact that SWC is in it made me wanna see it even more. I don't really like her in it, though. I love the actress but I guess i'm just not keen on her character or it could be the way she's written. Anyway, it's a good show.

Hi Peanut, I think Fish watches Walking Dead. It's on a channel I can't get, so I haven't seen it. But it's getting very good reviews and has been nominated for a Golden Globe.
What character does SWC play? I'm guessing she's not a zombie. Heh.
Hey, since you like fairies and collect them, did you see Supernatural, "Clap Your Hands," the ep where Dean is captured by "aliens"? It's a great ep, and gives a plausible explanation for alien sightings (fairies!) and even has a leprechaun tossed in for good measure.

Nope, I'm not the Zombie fan! I prefer my boys to look a little less … decomposed.

Ha ha, too funny Fish! Most of my dates have eventually turned into decomposing walking dead so maybe I will recognize some of the cast if I ever get to see an ep.
Some tv experts were on the radio last night and talked up Walking Dead. The show fired its writing staff and next season is going to all be written by freelancers, so load up your word processors you writers and jump in there. This season was six eps and they said it "sort of" wrapped up, but there were enough loose ends that another season could come out of it, and looks like it will. One of the women hosts said she liked watching the decomposing. Heh. Funny.

Peanut, that is Hep who is watching Walking Dead. Check out her post in the "Broke out of prison" thread. I knew I had seen it somewhere!

Hey Ginger, I'll check that out! It's not on over here but I had seen mention of it somewhere online and as I love zombie flicks I decided to check it out so I watched it online. The second season isn't on until October but I've read rumours it may be back in July. Too long to wait dammit!! SWC plays the wife of the main character. I LOVE Supernatural and I did indeed see that ep. Was glad the 'leprechaun' didn't have one of those stupid "orish" accents and they just let him be American. Felt bad for the fairy that Dean fried in the microwave! Ewwwww. Poor thing. And LOL @ Fish!

I never got around to asking you, Peanut, how you liked the end of Lost. I absolutely LOVED it, it made me bawl my eyes out, I thought it was beautiful. I watched it again in reruns and it had the same effect on me. I even understood the "sideways" world, it all made sense to me.
Cindy, how are you liking Grey's? I hated the shooting episode. The shooter goes all through the hospital and no one can find him? Everyone has cell phones but no one could call 911 and say he was outside such-and-such room or he's on this-or-that floor? A SWAT guy finally shoots him when shooter is going to kill Little Grey, then the SWAT guy totally freaking DISAPPEARS and the shooter goes on his way to find Derek? WTF? The SWAT guys can't find the shooter but Chief can walk in cold and find him right away? Too much for me to handle. And those are just top-of-my-head complaints.
Hate the Cristine-getting-freaky story line. I like strong Cristine, not bar-tender-s lut Cristine, so this last week was better for me. I hated what Arizona did to Callie, breaking up as they are in the airport to board the plane to Africa. She lets Callie quit her job, sub her apartment, get rid of all her belongs, then she freaking DUMPS her at the last minute? I am very proud of Callie for slamming the door in her face now that she is back. I wish Callie would get together (and stay) with Mark. I don't like Mark and Little Grey since I don't like Little Grey. April competes with her for most obnoxious character on the show.
I do like Scott Foley so glad he is on, and maybe he will make Kim Raver's Teddy more likable since I think she's been a waste of time so far. She marries him and then won't even have a drink with him while they are sitting in a freaking BAR? WTF?
Heh. I'm grouchy.
Has anyone else noticed Ellen Pompeo's moustache? It really shows up in her bedroom scenes with Derek. Heh.
I'm back watching The Bachelor. Cindy, is your mom watching? I didn't see Brad Womack(or Deanna)'s season so he's new to me. But he's good looking and VERY smooth-talking. I wonder if he was that smooth the first time around.
Finished watching the last season of Rescue Me. I don't like all the work trying to get Damien into a rehab to learn to walk when he's obviously brain damaged. Cliff hanger wasn't as good as last season when Uncle Teddy shot Tommy and left him bleeding to death on the bar-room floor.
What is everyone else watching?

Yes, she is watching Ginger..lol Although she had a decison to make tonight because there was a 2 hr "Lie to Me" as well. I told her THAT was a real choice:-)
I don't mind Christina going a bit nutty--IMO it made her more human and now she has snapped out of it so...
Can't stand Teddy..waste of time is right!!! Ohhh..I knew I liked that guy..couldn't figure out who he was..LOVE Scott F..ITA he is hot. At least pretend to be nice..
No clue why Arizona is back..and what is Ally McBeal guy doing on Grey's as a doc noone likes (Arizona replacement guy)
All in all I've liked Private Practice more (and it kills me to say that since I'm just proping up Shonda (GA creator more)
And ITA Mer is looking ALOT older..guess RL motherhood has aged her..lol
I'm not watching alot anymore Blue Bloods is the new fav..(Tom Selleck in uniform as the Police Chief..hello! Go Tom!)

Lie to Me or Bachelor ... Bachelor wins hands-down!
I know I shouldn't rag on Grey's since I tolerated all of the time-warpiness on Prison Break. But one takes a pregnancy test ONCE and only using first-thing-in-the-morning urine, you don't pee on sticks all day long thinking things will change. I can't believe SOMEONE on that GA set couldn't set that record straight. Plus, you only pee on the stick when you are a few WEEKS LATE and suspect you might be PG. Plus, working at a hospital, how about just having Cristine run a blood test and forget the pee sticks altogether? Gesh.
The horses running over the domestic partner hit close to home around here. This summer at a small-town parade a horse-drawn carriage went on a rampage after the horses spooked. Several people in the crowd were run over, but the heartbreaker was, the carriage was driven by an elderly man who drove that same team in every parade that town had, every year. His 80-year-old wife was riding in the carriage and she was killed when the carriage flipped during the stampede. The man was holding onto the reins trying his best to stop the team and he was drug a distance before he fell away. His children and grandchildren were also in the carriage; luckily, they are all unhurt. I was devastated thinking about what emotional pain that poor man must still be in. I hope neither he nor his family watches GA.
Anyway: A gay friend of mine was married last spring in a state where it's legal. He and his partner both wore kilts. I saw them at an event last summer and they were in their kilts again. I had to laugh when Randy came over to say hi to me. I told him I was looking down and saw the kilts but never looked high enough to see it was he and Tim, men in kilts are so hot, who cares what the faces are! Heh. Yeah, I'm bad.
Stupid that Chief can hire that Arizona replacement, then hire back Arizona, hire like crazy, then he rants about budgets. Where is all that salary money coming from, he hires everyone at the drop of a hat. Mark walks in ... he's hired. Addison, same thing. Owen, same thing. Teddy, you're hired. Gah. And I thought Callie was chief resident. What happened to that? Glad to see strong Cristine back, but man, she sure recovered instantly.
HATE Teddy even more that she can't be compassionate with Scott Foley, whose character is being written as the perfect man, says all the perfect things. The docs must have a great insurance policy too since all the ones I am familiar with have a pre-existing condition OUT clause, plus a waiting period before any treatments. You'd think in a hospital like that, they would treat Teddy's husband for free. Unless Meredith is still paying off her kidney transplant (or whatever organ she donated to her deadbeat dad).
The actress playing Arizona had a baby in real life. Didn't seem like she was in Africa long enough for maternity, but who knows.
I can't bring myself to watch Private Practice. I hate all the women dressing like models instead of doctors. At least on GA, the gals wear RL ponytails. That is realistic.
Charlotte from Lost is now on No Ordinary Family (with Dexter's murdered wife Rita) and Friday Night Light's quarterback Sarencen is on Off the Map.
I've been liking Million Dollar Money Drop. Some radio guys were talking about how stupid it is because the questions are so easy. Yes, the questions are easy, but I consistently get them wrong.
Who is the most hated man: Michael Vick or Tiger Woods.
Teens spend more time doing what: On Internet or watching tv.
Most popular Thanksgiving side dish is: Mashed potatoes or green bean casserole or candied yams.
Answer those three right and you win!

Golden Globes tonight. I absolutely ADORE Ricky Gervais so am looking forward to a fun time.
I've passed on seeing The Social Network, although I hear that is tagged for winning all the prizes, even Oscar for best picture. I wonder why I don't want to see it. Has anyone? Should I?

Yes, I saw Social Network and enjoyed it Michael Cera was good in it and redeeemed himself from that weird/quirky movie I saw of his..lol
And yes, it did win for best picture! I didn't watch the Globes ...but caught a bit of some after shows..
Desperate Housewives was on so I watched that...
I was shocked on Money Drop that the answer to that internet/tv question was TV by 3 times the amount..I figured out go with the least likely answer..then you'll be right..Is it wrong that I've enjoyed watching people lose money?? I got so tired of women saying "Are you sure honey?" Give me a break..like he knows better than you, step up chick!
That's sad about the carriage...I don't like watching events with animals for that reason. I loathe the Calgary Stampede..I wish they'd shut it down..every year horses/calves/bulls die because people disrespect the animals.
Yes, Grey's has no place in reality and yes, it was a short mat leave for Arizona...must have had the kid and run back to work..lol
I LOVE kilts on guys too..very manly!

Cindy, we are talking about different movies: Michael Cera is not in Social Network. Maybe that's why you thought he was a better actor, he wasn't in it!
Ricky Gervais said it was his fav movie of the year, so I must see it if Ricky approves.
I could have taken the million dollars all the way to the end on Drop this week. Go figure. The only time I am consistently correct and I'm sitting at home. I haven't noticed women on that show saying "Are you sure, honey?" Most of the men are just as unsure, plus there have been plenty of same-sex partners. So I don't have any lop-sided feminist complaints. It is wearing to watch the torturous struggles after the money has been placed, though, so I keep the channel-switcher working full-time during those parts.
Calgary Stampede has had its share of bad luck with animal deaths, most related to that crazy chuck-wagon racing. I am a supporter of sports with animals, however, since I grew up showing horses and have an interest in showing/competing with all sorts of livestock. From an insider's view, animals don't compete in any sports if they don't want to, and sport animals are well-taken care of since they are the stockman's bread and butter. If I were a bull, I'd rather buck out for 8 seconds every other weekend than be in a McDonald's Big Mac, the only other alternative for all bulls/steers. Plus I'd have the fun of trying to gore those cowboys.
I love horses in a parade, they are my favorite part. And taking a carriage ride is fabulous. I LOVE it, even though I have driven horses many times, nothing is as fun. The horses that drive love doing that or they, too, would refuse. It's a fact, animals that don't want to compete don't because they quit, get sour, just fail to do what they are suppose to do. Even dogs ... there is no one in the world who can get one to show if it doesn't want to be there.
I'm sorry to say I think Callie used Mark to get pregnant. I hope she doesn't get back with Arizona and I hope she doesn't get with Mark now that she's pg. Mark was so freaky when his daughter was there, his character went all out of proportion.
The Bachelor is telling every single woman he goes on a date with the same thing, that he feels a strong connection with her. Well, maybe he does. At least he has good grammar and can use pronouns correctly, and adverbs. That's a first for that show!
