Gah, I don't watch DH anymore and I can't get the channel with AR. It's Olympics for me all the way anyway! Favorite Olympics moments: 1. The orcas swimming across the arena floor during the opening ceremonies. I also loved the "weed" comments about the torch looking like four doobies, and the hand-carried torches looking like a giant joint. Eh, too funny, hoser! 2. Evan Lysacek's Ed Grimley hair during his final spin in his gold-medal-winning free program. In this photo his hair has started to return to his head, I couldn't find a pic of the full-out spin. But it was hilarious, and shows up well if you get a chance to see it. blog.seattletimes.nwsource.com/olympics/evan.jpgCompare Ed Grimley if you get to see the replay: phoenix.fanster.com/coyotes/files/2009/05/ed_grimley.jpg3. Evan Lysacek's darling sweet smile, so pure and wholesome, during the medal ceremony. 4. Shaun White's final snowboard run after he knew he had won the gold. If anyone did not shout "HOLY CR*P!" while watching that amazing performance, then that person is stone-cold dead. 5. Lindsay Vonn's televised comment to a competitor during the woman's Super G yesterday, spoken while she was in gold position with several women yet to ski: "I hope you stay in there, I want you on the podium with me." Lindsay ended up in third. I wish she had ended up in fourth, the conceited snot. 6. EVERY race that Apolo Ono competed in. I nearly fell off the couch every time he took to the ice. As he says, short track is one crazy event. 7. The professional interviews and wholesomeness of both Shaun White and Apolo Ono. May you never be caught blowing a bong with the underaged as did my previous -- and now fallen -- hero, Michael Phelps. I hate you now, Michael. Evan also gave kind and thoughtful interviews after his raking by the Russian press and Evgeni Plushenko in particular. Loved it when he was asked if he would be competing in 2014. His reply: "I doubt they will let me into the country." Too funny! 8. The thrilled reactions of competitors winning gold when they were not expected to even place. Netherland's Mark Tuitert, Britain's Amy Williams are two.

I caught that new show "Parenthood" last night, produced by Ron Howard. Pretty good (though maybe a few t oo many characters to intro all at once) but I do wonder how long it will last. These family dramas don't seem able to make it on the networks anymore. Maybe having Ron Howard attached to it will give it a fighting chance. Great to see Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls) back in a series.

Does anyone watch the Kirstie Alley's new reality show "My Big Life." (I think that's the title.) I happened to catch some eppies of it this weekend back to back... OMG she is hilarious. The eppy I saw was her doing a fire drill to get all her animals out of the house in under 15 minutes. She has boatloads of animals (including a bunch of Lemurs. Anyway, the house "staff" (and I use the term loosely) had to go around collecting the the animals and when they failed miserably, she made them repeat it. She wanted a book of all the animals (so she could keep good track) so the staff had to take pics of each animal and do a "bio" for each. Well the staff gets a bunch of blurry/mislabelled pics---so she keeps sending them out. Anyway she was all "they are my children" all while her human kids are standing there and she looks at them and says "of course your my kids too" LOL They actually seemed like down to earth kids, and the house? Oh my..for someone who hasn't done alot of work since cheers, she is clearly doing ok. Anyway, she seemed really sweet (I always have a soft spot for a big animal lover) and more than willing to poke fun at herself. Her "staff" is about the laziest cast of characters I have ever seen, but she doesn't seem to care (seems to just want the company) but man, with all those animals she will need to be quick in a fire.... Anyway, if you ever need to fill an hr with mindless tv...

Cindy, I don't have cable so haven't seen Kirstie's show. It's good you found some mindless fun, though.
I really enjoyed Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution show. I'd never seen Jamie (again, he's cable) and really was taken with him on this show. It was great fun to watch, and full of good information.
I'm watching Dancing WTS again. I like Evan Lysacek, he's so funny but never changes his face when he cracks jokes so you think he's still serious when he says such funny things. I still switch channels when the judges drone on about whatever or the "stars" are interviewed endlessly about "how do you feel." I just like watching the rehearsals and performances. Don't think it's fair they put in a professional dancer (the girl thingycat Dolls chick) with "regular" people. Hope she gets voted out, but my life so doesn't depend on who wins or doesn't. It was painful to watch Buzz Aldren though. Wish they wouldn't hire on ancient folk, although I guess they need money too.
I'm really invested in Lost. Peanut, have you been watching? It seems to be coming together; I did not understand the flash sideways things where people were on the plane who were never on the plane to begin with, like Desmond, but that's starting to become clearer. I didn't like Jin and Sun both dying this week ... I think one of them should have remembered they have a baby who needs a parent. Surprisingly, I am liking Jack this last season, his character finally has some depth. Still not sure how Widmore ties into it all, why he "wants" the island.
I've been hooked into Celebrity Apprentice. I love Bret Michaels and am relieved he is recovering from his illness. Sharon Osbourne is great, but Cyndi Lauper is the best of all. I hope she wins it, she is wildly creative. I'd like to see Holly leave next, she's a stick-in-the-mud, and while the Aussie chef (forgot his name!) is nice to look at, I don't see he contributes much besides looking good.
ETA: LOL, the censor here does not like the name of the girl band, Pu s sycat Dolls.

Since new fall tv season is starting, I figured I'd bump this up.
If anyone wants to put in premeire dates for shows feel free.
Tonight was Parenthood at 10pm --One of my favs from last yr--about a family with different issues and one of the siblings has an autistic little boy --the actor is incredible drives me crazy as a character, but that's what he is supposed to do to showcase the signs of autism. Lots of good dynamics
Craig T Nelson is the Dad of the Clan and Lauren Graham is one of the daughters (former gilmore girl)

Oh, and I'm all caught up with Weeds. Nancy is getting more ridiculous by the season and man, the kids are screwed up past the point of no return but again kids portray it all so well...Shane has lost it...
Anyway, that's on Showcase 10pm Sunday or you know, those of you blessed with highspeed, watch it on the net..

Tonight Robert Knepper guests on Amaury's show, Chase, playing a guy who goes on a killing spree. Who would have figured Knepper could play that sort of character?
I saw part of the Chase pilot. IMO it's a bland rip off of Saving Grace, and Jessie Metcalf plays a guy who is so lame the definition of things that should be common knowledge have to be explained to him. Maybe I just saw the bad parts, but I won't tune in again, except to maybe see Bob machine gun some people tonight. Heh. I did hear it might be on the chopping block.
Speaking of chopping block, Lone Star was canceled after only two eps. Funny, I caught the pilot on reruns and liked it. The main character is VERY handsome, but in that sort of way where you see it in his eyes and face as he acts. His character really drew me in, and Jon Voight (channeling Robert Duvall) was high-class. I have to look up who the main actor is so I can watch for him in other things. So ... the only new show that caught my attention is now gone. Go figure, hey?
My hottie vampire from Moonlight, Alex O'Loughlin, is starring in the Hawaii Five-O remake. It's gotten pretty good reviews, but I can't get any CBS channels so will miss it as I missed his (canceled) Three Rivers. The CW did rerun Moonlight over the summer, and I faithfully watched each week. It made me remember how much I loved that show, canceled a year before the vampire craze. *sigh*
Also cannot get Good Wife or Amazing Race. Race, as Cindy knows, was one of my favorites before the digital era removed CBS from my viewing pleasure. Blue Blood must be on cable since I've never heard of that. Caught part of Housewives during commercial breaks ... what's up with Susan and Mike having a KID? And Lynette's kids are now TEENAGERS? And Carlos had a face lift that makes him look completely different. Gah!
Saw part of Bros & Sis, again during commercial breaks. Had to turn it off, too much drama. I just can't get into it again. I used to be a fan.
Can't bear to watch Parenthood. I want to yell at Lauren Graham to shut up. She was a non-stop talker in Gilmore, which I thought was the writing, but she's the same way on talk shows ... blah, blah, blah. *nerve grate*
Surprised at Modern Family winning all those emmys. I just have so little patience with sit-coms that work so hard.
I've discovered I'm a reality show fan, much as I hate to admit it. They just sort of draw me in. Bachelor/B-ette, B-Pad ... they are all terrible and I'm fascinated by the train wrecks. ANTModel is one of my must-sees. And I wasn't going to do it, but I'm back into DancingWTS. Loved SYTYCDance this summer as well. I love to read all the snark on TWoP the next day. Watched all of America's Got Talent and fell in love with Prince Poppycock. Sad to discover how those acts are solicited and then manipulated once they sign on. Again: Info from online chat rooms!
Supernatural is the only "regular" show I watch now for real, not just during commercial breaks on other stations. After two eps of the new season, I'm not so thrilled, but hoping for better next week. It's a nice blend of camp, horror, comedy, good writing and some hot guys.
Did anyone see Wentworth in his movie? It got a D rating from Entertainment Weekly.

Cindy: You need hi-speed so you can check out Gotham: gothamtheseries.com/Home.htmlIt's written by ATWT's Lilly Snyder and stars many of ATWT's actors. I haven't watched any eps yet, just heard about it on the radio.

Yes Ginger--apparently "Lily's" series is really well liked. ATWT ended a couple of weeks ago (finally got the ax after yrs of bad writing) and most of us wanted to see alot of them move over there so we could still see them:-)
ITA of brothers and sisters god, all they do is fight--I tape it now so I can watch Weeds so I FFed through the crap (which is most of it)
ITA on chase--pretty predictable and not worth much..lol
DH--yes mike and susan have a 5 yr old but the worst part is, they are currently living in a cheap hotel because they have no money (which makes zero sense since he is a plummer and she teaches at her kids school) Initially, they tried to imply he had a gambling/debt problem but it was pretty much only mentioned once.
LOL about Carlos..I was thinking it was just how he looked without facial hair but you're right, he's MUCH different, and couldn't put a finger on it.
Ginger, can you not watch amazing race on-site at cbs.com? It's been good so far nice teams except for 1 with a clearly abusive BF. I keep waiting for her to tell him to shut the F up, but not so far...I would have left him on the plane long ago.
LOL at your Bach Pad obsession my Mom has it too..she swore she wasn't going to watch that one after B but I know she does.
I'm proud that I finally kicked the biggest loser habit. I finally got over all the crying and drama. I think they pick the biggest people now, with the biggest problems and it's really turned into a shrink show.
I'd much rather see them help people that only needc to lose SOME weight (as apposed to 200 pounds) it would be much more helpful to the masses IMO but I guess they like seeing the drastic results--makes for better tv.
Nope, didn't see WM.

Hey Cindy, I'm off of Biggest Loser for good now, too. It's the same each season, giant people sweat, groan, fall off machines and cry while Jillian and Bob yell and try to break them. Just the contestants' names change. I'm also over Hell's Kitchen, also the same each season: Ramsey swears so much only *bleeps* are on the soundtrack. Teams ALWAYS go through some huge crisis during service, like what's so hard about everyone cooking one thing and plating it up? I saw a little of Jamie Oliver this summer and really enjoyed him, he was kind and so interested in helping people and teaching them to cook by making it fun. No wonder when TMZ asked Ramsey about other chefs he said he hated Jamie's restaurants/cooking/Jamie himself. Heh. (I do still peek in at Hell'sK during commercial breaks though, although I don't peek at BiggestL. BL is completely and totally gone for me.)
I could watch ARace online, but use any online watching to catch up on Rescue Me (I'm a season behind), Weeds, Burn Notice (ALL seasons behind!), Dexter (ALL seasons behind!), Curb.
I think Carlos on DespHous is a new actor. Am I correct? He looks totally diff than "old" Carlos. So did that series jump ahead 10 years or are they doing the soap opera trick of making babies turn into teenagers overnight?
