We ended up just getting dinner and walking around a bit. The line for half price tickets was crazy. We are going to try for Conan or Letterman tickets tomorrow. I did meet Rupert Jee, from the Hello Deli outside of the ed Sullivan theater. We are also going on the NBC Studio tour tomorrow and maybe Central Park in the morning.

Cindy, I smell a yard meet-up in New York! I actually did that when I went to see Colbert. A bunch of us hard-core fans who met up on a message board actually got together to wait in line for the show. It was actually really fun! It's nice to put a face with a name, ya know?) I'm glad you're having fun nelra!
And, thanks jen! We did do some awesome stuff. My only regret is that we didn't have a few more days . . . there is SO much to do in NYC it's not even funny.

Jen, why not post your pics and put us in a NY state of mind....(oh man, how corny was that) neira: It just clicked for me who Rupert is...the guy that does the David Letterman spots from his store. I don't think I realized it was a deli, I was thinking corner store. Yup, I'd love to do the NY meet up Eagle. As soon as you get out of the frozen tundra and we figure out which one of you can haul my butt out of the airport and get me to my accessible hotel room (biggest prob for me is needing a walk in shower I can't do bathtubs anymore) It probably wouldn't be a huge deal but it's not usually stuff that people who hardly know me want to deal with lol. So I guess it depends how well we know each other by then??

I'd be willing to say you wouldn't have a problem in NYC Cindy... the places are so small to begin with so I'm sure a tub is an extra. Almost like on cruise ships. Unfortunately I don't have any NYC pics with me at work... but I can look some up

Hey guys! I'm on vacation! Well, until Thursday at 8am, anyway. =) I've booked tomorrow off...suh-weet! Today I had my yearly performance review with my boss and it was pretty positive - so that puts me in a good mood and hopefully gets me a raise!! I'm feeling mighty positive about life on the whole at this moment. Which is always a good thing. I totally heart NYC. It's been 10 years since I was there (it was my first big "international" trip sans parents)...I soooo need to go back as an adult above the legal drinking age. My friends and I were all going to go in 2004 - the summer we were all at least 21, but that never did happen. There are so many things to do there. I really want to spend a day in Central Park and go to the castle.

Cindy-The hotel I am staying at, the Hotel Mela, actually has a walk in shower. The room is a bit small, but it is NY so it is fine.
Just so you all know, my forehead was on the 3rd hour of the Today show this morning. I also got stand by tickets for Conan and Letterman, we thought we had a better chance at Letterman so we tried there, only 2 stand bys got in.
We had a couple of drinks and we are going to try for stand by Jimmy Fallon tickets, since he is doing practice shows.

So speaking of vacation... I thought I'd email the guy we rented the condo from last august.. to see if it was available this year for labor day weekend and to see if we could work out another awesome deal like we did last year. And it's available but no deal.. at least not till he can see if he can rent it for the full price first. So that made me cuious to see what else I could find... and now I just really wanna go to the beach. And when I called to check on Maddie... grandma told me we have a tooth! Woohoo!

If you're interested, Cindy - Barack Obama is being interviewed by Peter Mansbridge on the National right now. I'm definitely tuning in. I like Obama but am keen to see what he says about relations with Canada - trade, etc. He is meeting with Stephen Harper on Thursday, afterall.

LOL Sabina..a meeting? More like a meet and greet. I don't think he takes us anymore seriously than Bush did, he's just smart enough to be nice about it. Honestly, who can blame them? With someone like Harper, noone will bother with us. Obama's first priority is to get the US back on track and IMO, that has little to do with Canada. Just as we don't seem to have the severity of issues (bank/mortgage crisis) his priorities are different than ours. I think they'll be a lot of "nice" going on, but I don't put any stock in it. Call me a cynic:P
Wow Jen, you're already on labor day? Yikes! Go enjoy Maddie's new tooth first, the rest of us want to bask in the sun for awhile. :-)

Yeah, you're right - he's only here for something like 36 hours! Yikes! He is smarter than Bush I think in that he isn't totally disregarding Canada, which is nice. I get the feeling you don't like Harper! I'm not much of a politico. I don't HATE Harper, but I don't love him either. I'm kind of meh. The most interesting issue for me is the issue of trade relations - obviously it's a very important part of both of our economies, especially for the industry I work in. True though - our economy isn't nearly in such a bad state at the moment.
It was a good interview, anyway. Mansbridge only had 10 minutes to get his questions in, so he was quick and direct and no bullsh!t. He quipped about Obama's Blackberry - "you wear Canada on your belt", which was cute. My brother works for RIM, I'm sure he'll love that shout-out.

Isn't RIM reporting like a 300 percent increase in their workforce? Or maybe I'm thinking 3000 jobs. Impressive. Somebody is doing something right. I'm Meh with you, except I think Harper is terrible for our image. The joke is that Harper doesn't even listen to those in his own party, never mind anyone else. The reporters joke about it and it's just something that has always bothered me. It's why I enjoy Obama. The self-proclaimed "mutt" is determined to move mountains or strain his back trying...I like that. Sure, he'll have his failures, but he'll also have his triumphs and he can say that he tried. That's something. I don't see anything close to that with Harper and in his own way, I think it makes him dangerous. It doesn't exactly scream national unity when the other parties spend their time plotting to take you down.

Yeah... well I'd like to go to the beach twice.. but don't think that will happen this year... damn... so I'll go over Labor Day when other families have to send their children to school the next day.. and it's generally cheaper. woohoo. I'd love to go see Regis and Kelly or The View... or Rachel Ray... basically abc mornings lol.
