Cindy and nelra - Facebook has revolutionized my life. I always wanted to know what had happened to all those elementary school friends of mine after I moved away in grade 9. Now I know. Plus it's an awesome platform for me to share my pictures.
I basically told T over emails today to get a hobby! I enumerated some of the things I do to keep myself busy and said that if he had such a "boring" life (as he put it), he should do something about it. K says I'm being too nice and that she finds his whining about being lonely/bored annoying. I don't find it too annoying - my first instinct when I'm around people like that is to play it straight to them and say "so, what are you going to do about it?" I seem to attract people like that...hmmm...that's maybe not a good thing. When I was working in the soul-sucking-call-centre-of-doom (and I myself was fairly depressed with my circumstances), I sat beside a girl who was about 5 years younger than me who I knew vaguely from around town/church. She was very depressed and very down on herself. And she kept asking me for advice, etc. I don't like to give out advice, but I did listen to her and usually came back with "well, so if you don't like where you are, what are you going to do to change it?" I mean, I'm not going to just sit around and listen to you whine and pat you on the head and say "there there."
Jen - congrats to your friend! That's exciting!!
Eagle - he's not new at work. He's been here for a year or so. He really is a people person and can't stand not being around people for an extended time (well, then, he's got the wrong job for one!). He says he was a popular jock in high school (I told him I hated the jocks in high school) - so I'm not sure it's a social anxiety thing. Unless of course he's not used to a bunch of girls taking the piss out of him all the time (in a nice way - you know, but still - not taking his crap and giving back MORE sarcastic and snarky remarks than he makes himself).

Sabina: I loved my elementary school friends, I should have carried them to high school with me! They included me in on everything. They used to adapt all their games so I could play. (To play touch football I was allowed to have the ball in my hood, and for jump rope, I was the rope turner.) It was so easy. Then I get to high school (we had moved away too) and these kids couldn't wait to have at me. The gym teacher thought I was nuts for wanting to play volleyball on my knees, and they made me sign a friggin' waiver in case I got hurt in gym. (That was after I threatened them with a human rights rep because they didn't want me taking gym at all)
The funny part was one of the "pretty" chicks (who thought I made a lovely target) got hit in the mouth with a tennis racket and lost a tooth. On the way out I said "Bet you didn't make her sign a waiver!" and made sure the teacher heard me. LOL
This winter I've had to listen to my Mom whine about being afraid to go cross-country skiiing. Seriously? Use your legs and get in shape. Count your blessings. I'm telling you, sometimes I just want to deck people:-)

Cindy-I also dont want my info getting out there, so I have adjusted all the privacy settings so only my friends can see my stuff and even then I can limit what my friends see. Not that I have anything on my pages that would harm my reputation or anything, but some friends are closer than others.
Sabina-I just figured out how to upload my photos to Facebook last night. Now my London pictures are finally posted. Now I just need to work on getting my Vienna and Ireland pics loaded.

It's going to be somewhat nice here this weekend (50's) so we might take Maddie out for a walk... get some fresh air in those lil lungs. And I wanna look into getting Bare minerals foundation.. anyone here use it?

If it warms up, I'm walking around. I was out today and nearly froze after 10 minutes. These temps are ridiculous.
I've never even heard of bare minerals which tells you how much make-up I use..lol
Did you all hear the recordings for the flight that went into the Hudson? Wow was he calm.
"Yeah, we're going into the Hudson." I want him to be the pilot on my next flight.
Anyway, he's going to be on 60 minutes on Sunday at 7pm if I can remember to watch.

Really? 60 minutes? I'll have to tivo that... he was at the Super bowl.. I think that's the first time we've seen him since the crash... at least I don't remember another time... and I'm pretty sure working in the news that I'd have seen him.

Hmmm..I posted last night but I guess it didn't go through. Warmer weather here today (Spring wind) so I had a nice walk to the library but all that water has FLOOD written all over it. I got a couple of movies to watch for tonight (Sex and the City anyone?:-))
It was nice to see so many people walking around, it's like we all come out of our holes like the groundhogs.
Still freezing in Alaska Eagle or are you catching a break too?

Hey guys!
Yeah, definitely spring-like weather here right now, though I do think it's a fluke. =)
Last night my friends and I went to see "He's Just Not That Into You" - parts of it were very cute. Though I think I liked the "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" trailer before it more! I nearly had a fit when I saw the dark "WB" logo come up. Can't wait till July!
Today I'm making a meat loaf - never done it before! Very excited. I usually cook for the week on Sundays. I called my mom to get her recipe.
Also good news from E- her brain tumour is officially smaller!!!!!!!!!

LOL at being excited about making meatloaf Sabina. This is when you know I've lived alone too long. Throw hamburg in a bowl add breadcrumbs, egg, ketchup, garlic, dry mustard, pepper there you go meatloaf!! Now throw it in the oven. Having said all that, I don't even eat meatloaf:P
Yeah that "He's just not into you" movie got terrible reviews. I enjoyed the book (if my sister would have just read it she could have had a much nicer husband:-)) There's so many good movies coming out. Doubt, The reader, New in Town looks good...Did you hear that one of the stunt doubles in the latest HP movie got seriously injured? (He couldn't feel his legs) huge explosion. I hope he comes out of it okay, haven't heard snything in a few days about it
3 loads of laundry for me today...I really detest running up and down stairs to do laundry in apartment buildings..takes forever. Then, because I was rushing, I broke a plate in my fav. set. It's all I seem to do these days.
Great news about E..poor girl has really been put through the ringer.

Good news Sabina! thanks for letting us know. It's going to be in the 50's here again Wed.. I think Maddie and I will go for a walk w/ our friend and her dog. Maddie loves just sitting in the stroller and watching Duke. We did a lil shopping this weekend.. and apparently so did the rest of the world.. cuz there were lines EVERYWHERE! And Jay made me laugh cuz the traffic around the mall was horrendous and he said " Oh yeah.. the economy sucks"

You know Jen, I see the same thing. Everyone keeps saying they have no money but the malls/big box stores are full. I will say, there have been awesome deals and I think that's why people are still buying but if that's true, what's with the panic?
I bought a leather jacket I just love. I saw it on Friday night and put it back because it was $329 plus our 12%? tax so I was all "No way." The next day, it dropped to $219 so it's now in my closet. LOL
Yup, we are getting 50's too on Wednesday. I'll be making a beeline for the library since I need to return stuff and get some stuff they are holding for me. I deliberately don't bring money because I would walk up and down my street looking at all the stuff I haven't had access to thanks to the snow. I tend to go a little nuts when I can walk around again:-)
I see we have a couple of new members...welcome!
How cute was Captain Sully on 60 min last night? Charming, humble, and man can he fly. I was surprised when he said he wondered if he could have done more but I guess that comes from flying planes worth millions.
And I know I'm probably not supposed to say this in light of the circumstances it caused, but I felt really bad when I heard that the birds were thudding against the plane and getting sucked into a hot engine. How awful, poor things. I'm just glad it all worked out though it sounds like many won't be flying for awhile.

Shoot! I forgot to watch! .. I might have to look it up on you tube. Luckily for me my walk is thru the park, not the shopping district... although I'm sure we could go for a walk there instead...

Hey all, I know I've been lax in "stopping by". There really isn't too much new to report. As I've said before, my life is pretty small (work-apartment), but I'm doing really well financially, which is really ironic in this economy. I don't have a car, so no gas, and I can't go out to restaurants or movies, so I don't need much disposable income:)
Although cold (-11 today), I'm surviving. It sounds so cliche, but you really get used to it. Last week it was about 20 above and I was in a sweatshirt and jeans outside. Strange what you can adjust to once you get used to.
Well, I reread my post and I am warning all who continue reading that the following is a rant, and nothing but a rant . . .
Anyway, all is well and I will be back in Anchorage yet again at the end of the month for a technology inservice. I'm not really looking forward to traveling, but am looking forward to being able to eat out and finally get a chance to watch "Slumdog Millionaire". Everyone I've talked to who has seen it absolutely loves it . . .
One thing I'm NOT looking forward to is the return of our Special Ed "Specialist" who is at our site. To give y'all an idea, I just refer to her as "Crazy Lady" to my friends and family on the phone. There is some SERIOUS drama with her. I'll make it quick, I had to move apts because of her (next door, but it was still a Sat. shot). That was just the beginning. She brought her son up and he has, not issues, but an effing subscription! Ug. Anyway, she's been gone since Dec 2 for carpal tunnel surgery . . . and won't be back until mid-March. I'm guessing after our Spring Break. Keep in mind that the elementary had a BABY and will be out for less time. However, I'm not sure how much different it will be when she's back because she really doesn't do anything while she is here. Even though she's Special Ed, all she does is sit in her office hogging up the school phone or plays around on the computer. Can I just say that people who shirk work are one of my HUGE pet peeves. *sigh*
I guess I've fuming right now because of bills . . . because of the wiring in our neighboring apartments, we share the electric bill and I've been paying it (which isn't a problem for the time she's been gone) but we had a HUGE bill in November when we finally got our dryer. Before she left, she did 15 loads of laundry (NOT an exaggeration) which drove up our bill. I e-mailed her and even called her over Christmas Break to talk to her about it. She was pleasant, but not direct. I did tell her we needed to sit down and talk when she got back (yeah, I LOVE confrontation/sarcasm). I'll talk to her (if she really does come back in March) pleasantly and I can already hear what she will say about being gone, but I will stand firm on Nov.'s bill, which was sky high and which she WAS here for. There is another teacher and Crazy Lady has written checks the have bounced to her. Charming, huh?
OMG, I really sound like a B, but I need to vent and, believe me, I am giving you all the EXTREMELY short version. I HATE drama for drama's sake and people who invite it or cause problems where none need to exist just tick me off.

Wow, that IS different. I got the impression he was newer (or maybe I just didn't read your post closely enough) and was anxious. Sheesh. I wish him the best and understand how bothersome extreme neediness can be. He just sounds extremely immature.
