Hey Ginger - quick message (as I have to walk the dog). Re: Medium I've heard it was picked up by CBS and will be on Friday nights - which is good/bad. I'm glad it was picked up. But Friday? I liked it on Monday. Hopefully it won't compete with Dollhouse. I've just always liked the Dubois family - I love Joe and the kids are adorable. Last week the "psychic" bank teller wasn't actually psychic - she had over heard the bank robbers' plans. ANTM/CNTM is "America's Next Top Model" and "Canada's Next Top Model" (Canada's one is hosted by Jay Manuel - which is great as he is soo much less annoying than Tyra "Fierce" Banks). My favourite part of the show is when they critique their photos - go figure, eh? I do have a thing for photography, after all. "I must be the only person in the universe who has never watched a single ep of that show." Probably. I love it. I wasn't "allowed" to watch it when it first aired (I was 12) because my mom thought it had too adult storylines - but I watched it anyway - close to the TV so I could turn down the volume or change the channel when she came by (we didn't have a remote). Same with Sex and the City (only I was 16) - that was "under the table", shall we say. I'm going to try to check out this show "The Listener" tonight on CTV. (It's showing tomorrow on NBC). They are playing the first two hours. It's shot in Toronto - and Toronto is ACTUALLY Toronto! Not some other city! So that's exciting to me - cause I do love T.O. but you hardly ever see the real Toronto on screens as it is always subbing for NYC or Chicago or something. Also, it's about a guy with telepathic powers - he's a paramedic...might be good. I say "try" cause it might conflict with SYTYCD - which is priority #1.

I'm going to try to watch The Listener as well Sabina. I don't usually do Canadian Tv but one of the cast was on the radio this morning and he made it sound pretty interesting but if I get any "cheap" Canadian tv vibe I'm out of there:-)
Good news that it got picked up by NBC...and a boatload of other countries that have already picked it up.
LOL Sabina--I saw the sex and the city movie with my mom (I need a few more girlfriends) and there were parts I was watching and felt uncomfortable with her there...during Steve/Miranda's reunion scene where she is "backwards" shall we say..I hear "Oh my..." LOL

Ohhh good ..jaywalking rocks...I keep forgeting that Jay will be back....
I saw Conan's new set..I hate it. I think it looks soooo tacky. All the blue and silver it looked very futuristic I guess ..too contemporary for me...I might enjoy him more if he did something with that floppy hair in the front and he's always shaking it around. I just want to snip it right off :-)
I love Craig Ferguson but he's too late for even me most of the time:-)

Cindy re: Canadian TV. I liked Corner Gas (when I caught it) and I've heard raves about Little Mosque on the Prairie (seen bits - it's adorable and pretty funny) and I really like "Being Erica" on CBC.
None of those programs have that "cheap" (um...let's say govn't funded...) look to me...so I'm hoping The Listener can live up.
My favourite Canadian TV miniseries were, however: Anne of Green Gables (and the sequels), The Arrow and Million Dollar Babies (about the Dionne quints). I think we do pretty good miniseries.
I haven't seen Flashpoint but have heard really great things.
Agree re: Conan's hair.

I love Flashpoint! I'm adding Hugh Dillon to my list of Pretty Men Who Make Everything Better.

I love Conan and his hair!!! Part of Conan's whole shtick is making fun of himself, like how he still has his 1992 Ford Taurus. I admit I actually cried a bunch during Conan's heartfelt goodbye in NYC. My problem is I also like Letterman, but I think Conan will win out for me. I also like Jimmy Fallon, his first few weeks were rough with him being so nervous, but he seems to have calmed down.
Has anyone else been watching I am a Celebrity-get me out of here?

Ohhh neira..I saw bits of that tonight..surprise surprise another Baldwin brother..all they seem to do is reality shows. Apprentice, Celebrity Rehab, now this.
I found myself saying "who are these people?" except for LDP and Janice Dickinson who was all sicky, sicky lol. (and looked strung out)
Too funny!
The listener was decent--not bad, but not sure it will hold up against some of the other shows--we'll see.
Sabina :Who doesn't love Anne? Megan Follows will always be Anne to me no matter what else she does.

Sabina, thanks for clearing up the Medium medium mystery. I suspected Alyce The Bank Teller was a fake, but never got to watch the end. I, too, love Joe DuBois and family. Like Cindy has said, they are very realistic in "our" opinions. I hope Allison does get another season so she can come out of her coma. If she doesn't, I'd be happy to let Joe move in with me. Heh.
ANTM ... okay, now I get it. I've never seen that show since I'm cable-less. A close friend has a friend who was on last season and made it up to the final few. Names and hometowns were changed to prevent stalkers from finding contestants. I thought that was pretty interesting.
Did not get to see The Listener as I was watching SYTYCD. I had forgotten what bugged me so much about that show last year. And this year. I LOVE the audition shows because the judges are so into dance and are kind to contestants who don't quite have it. They are encouraging, and tell them they aren't right for the show, but to keep dancing and enjoy it if that is what they feel they are meant to do, and dance socially, or keep taking lessons, on and on. I really like that. Then everyone goes to Las Vegas and the very best dancers are told they suck, they can't cut it, they aren't good enough, the judges are so disappointed in them. Gah, it's harsh and not fun all of a sudden. I know that will prepare them for dance auditions in the real world, but man, it gets brutal. Some of the dancers last evening I really liked and they got cut; others I did not think were the best went on. But some judge comments overheard ("She would be good for the show.") might be why, they are picking some with the most appeal for voting and/or ratings.
I flipped to see a little bit of I'm a Celebrity, but found it hard to watch. Heidi and Spencer are a joke, I can't stand them. And I don't see any reason to eat live bugs, why not kill them first. Ozzy Osbourn got heck for biting the head off a live bat. To me, eating a live insect is the same thing. So, I turned it off.
I heard today that Patty Blagojovich (sp?) went on the show to raise money for some charity, and today that charity refused her money. How funny is that? I'm just glad judges would not let Rod participate. There's someone who belongs behind bars for sure.

I forgot to add: I like Conan's new futuristic set, and his hair doesn't bother me. He's so self-deprecating, no one makes more fun of Conan than Conan. Did anyone see Jay's last night when he showed a clip of him introducing Conan 19 years ago, when Conan was 30? His hair was straight with bangs combed down and over in sort of a Beatles cut, and he was adorable, in jeans with a sport coat, so much the style back then. Does anyone remember when Conan went to Norway (or was it Denmark or The Netherlands?) to meet with the woman prime minister (or president?) who is his twin? That was a great example of his being able to make fun of himself. The woman didn't quite get it, but it was a memorable segment.

Yes Ginger..I thought he was cute with his little blazer back then too and the hair looked normal...lol
It's nice that Conan doesn't mind making fun of himself..it'll come in handy:-)
Yeah, those reality shows go for pretty faces, talent or not..it's why survivor now ends up looking like a modeling shoot locale...
They'd take me as the loser..lol "Look at the crutch girl getting all stuck in the mud."
Jeff would be behind me saying "Come on Cindy give it some effort ..you're still in it...No wait, you're off course, get out of the mud..." :-P

Coming off a role as bad guy Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell on Fox's "Prison Break," Knepper has been tapped as the new lead villain on NBC's "Heroes" next season.
In at least six episodes of the series' fourth season, Knepper will play Samuel, a Jim Jones type -- charismatic but evil, with a twisted sense of humor -- who will veer into the lives of all heroes. The character had been referred to as "Carnival Barker" in the series breakdown released last month.

I love summer programming -- anything that isn't reality, that is (no offense). We watched Mental the first week and decided that it wasn't bad for a summer show (and Chris Vance looked good), then last week's ep was, in my opinion, dreadful. So many clichés and cheesy special effects. I opted to watch hockey last night (go Pens! Woo hoo!), but my mom & sis watched Mental. It was the one with David Carradine (I feel bad for his family), and Mom said it was okay, but that the promo for next week looks really weird, and she'll probably skip it.
We watched both eps of The Listener and found it interesting enough to try again. That new NBC show about the millionaire who does good deeds might be worth watching, if for no other reason than the locales.
We're waiting for Monk, Psych, and Leverage to return. I gave Mad Men a try but found that, as pretty as the show is, I just didn't care about any of the characters.

Agree forumfish..the listener is ok...not sure it will hang in with the big boys but it was tolerable.
Yes, the detroit/penn series has been a good one beats the rest of tv right now. How sad is it that I was THRILLED to see password on a couple of Sundays ago..?? I love that game...now if they would only dump Regis as host and get a nice looking, hot young guy...
Peanut was supposed to give her lost review on the finale..where did she go? lol

Oh. My. God. I just got sucked (ha! sucked!) into True Blood S1. Fan-bloody-tastic. It's HBO though, so definitely NOT for the faint of heart or innocent of eyes.

Cindy & Ginger,
I should have given my views on Lost way back when I watched it cuz i'm all fuzzy on it now! I really liked the ending though. I think they will all just flash to 2007. Am hoping Juliet flashes with them.
From what I can remember: Thought the whole thing with Locke really being dead and Esau (if that's who he is) taking on Locke's form and just pretending to be him was really cool! Poor Locke - poor guy never caught a break did he?
Was puzzled as to why Jacob said "What about you?" to Ben. Surely he should have been smart enough to say something a little more in line with keeping himself alive unless there was another reason yet to be explained as in he knew he was supposed to die or he was pissed at how bad a person Ben was or maybe Ben was really just that insignificant to him? Who knows! As soon as he said that to him I remember thinking: "well you've just signed your death warrant".
I liked how Jacob was shown to come into the Losties lives in those little ways where he had to touch them. Wonder why he chose them specifically. The interactions were cool though.
Loved Sawyer and Richard as usual. Much yumminess. Can't remember much else now though except that I loved it.
The new thing I've gotten into now is The Mentalist. I really enjoy it and it's lovely to see Robin Tunney playing a smart woman since she was a bit of a dope on PB. Also I think Simon Baker as Patrick Jayne is adoreable and quirky. Gorgeous smile.
