Jen: I'm betting good manners means don't say anything...but ME I would say "Apparently my kid is in the category of she who shall not be named" make a joke but get a point across. Yeah, unless you want pm's telling you when stuff is new, it looks like bookmark is useless.

Yeah.. I sent an email letting her know we got our Christmas presents and that we got the card and apparently there were mistakes made.. and then pointed out that Maddie's name was missing and that was upsetting cuz her other grand children's names were there. So we'll see what comes of that. So I guess I'll just jump to the last page and then find my last post and read on from there...

So the icy storm allowed me to stay in all day..hurray! Wish I could say I did a ton but alas, I was lazy and did nothing but listen to music, eat, and stare at all the presents I have to wrap..lol I have to say, if I was a skier/snowboarder I would LOVE this weather. We have some nice ski resorts in the area so I could see the appeal. Sledding is fun too so I can see why the kids were happy. Wish I could get around better in it to enjoy it some. Santa needs to big me a big, strong guy to drag me out of snowbanks:-P
Gingerbird, where'd you disappear to? Are you wrapping my Christmas gift? :-)
Jen: What came of the newsletter business?

I got a phone call the next morning saying that it wasn't done intentionally, it was a simple mistake. And I said that I was pretty sure thats what it was and I know how those things are written quickly etc... and she was stupid enough to say 'oh no, we looked over it for days' ......... stupidity leak. Open mouth insert foot. Whatever. I'm so over winter... I now have the joy of driving down the mountain I work on... I'm crossing my fingers that it's not too slippery out there.

I know. Already it feels like weeks of winter in part I think because the summer wasn't very nice here so I feel ripped off. It seems like it's been cool/cold forever.
Be careful!
LOL at "We looked it over for days!" Dumb indeed

Not a problem going home last nite... you just have to take your time. walking to the car was the hardest part lol. So today I'm at work again but before work I got a lot of wrapping done and realized we're not done shopping yet.. shit. Guess I'll be going out again tomorrow and fight all the crazies at the mall.

It's the first full day of my Christmas Break and boy am I glad! I need a breather, for sure. Village life can get a bit claustrophobic at times. I head into Anchorage the 26th to take a break, meet my "friend", and get some shopping done (fresh veggies and the like). It'll be nice to get out! I wish everyone all the best!

Oh you must be dying for fresh veggies eagle. I tend to only go shopping once a month because of my mobility issues and boy, by the end of the month I'm ready for a fresh salad/fruit. Then it's gone again in a week and I'm back where I started. I hope you have a nice time on your outing and Merry Christmas if you don't make it back in! Jen: Good luck at the mall! Bring elbow pads

Cindy, it is weird, but I really DO crave veggies, which is a new thing for me. It's interesting because in the village, when bypass comes through for the stores, news gets out fast and everyone rushes to the store to buy up the fresh meat/veggies, etc. In Oct, I flew into Anchorage and got tons of veggies for the rest of the semester. I'm getting down to it now;)

How do you get veggies to last 2 months? I can do a month with a cold fridge but that's about the limit. Cold snowbanks in the backyard? lol I've tried freezing just about everything, but most goes to mush.
You likely "crave" it more because you know you can't have it. That happens to me. Everytime I'm in a store, it's like a new experience because I missed something the month before. I really do envy people that can jump in their cars and just go.
That said, I think I save a lot on groceries because if I forget something, I just do without it.

Cindy, Right now, I just buy lots of frozen fresh veggies to last me. I just freeze everything if I want it to last. True, it doesn't work well with fruits, which I buy when bypass comes through at one of the village stores (apples, bananas, etc). I'm learning as I go;)

Bananas are the worst for lasting. My place is about 77 degrees all the time (3rd floor of an apartment building and EVERYONE's heat rises) The bunch lasts 3 days at most. It's funny, my fav is still peanut butter and banana sandwiches. LOVE THEM but after 3 days, I'm all bananaed out:-) Apples do hang in there well (I like granny smith best)
My all-time fav is watermelon but they are very hit/miss. I think I had one good one all summer. Anyway, enjoy your trip to the big city. I hope your "friend" turns out to be a keeper:-)

You guys make me laugh.. the most veggie's I've had recently are from baby food! Cindy.. I'm pretty sure if I was in your situation I'd have freaked out by now... I hate when I can't just hop in my car and go... nothing irritates me more. I think (w/ the exception of a few movie tickets I need to get from the bank) we're done shopping.... I think... we'll see... lol

Hmmm...movie tickets from the bank? Interesting. It's so great how all the stores seem to have ALL gift certificates now. (I was in one place that had movie rental/restaurant/movies) talk about one stop shopping..
Yeah, not much I can do about it Jen, I waited for the angels to give me wings but so far..NO.
Ok. where is Catperson? Seriously, I thought she's run over here after all her probs with TPTB elsewhere....
So far we appear to be the fox river 8...lol
I see glarkware had their hoodies for $10 but of course, chairman meow was all sold out...boooo It was a hoodie with a cat...totally up my alley.
LOL at your baby food veggies Jen. Umm..no thanks..mush isn't my thing although it really is just mashed up adult stuff. So I guess you don't eat a lot of salad than? :-)

The problem with salad is I get it and I forget about it... and then it's yucky... and I just end up throwing it out. Movie tickets at the bank... our credit union has tickets to the movie theaters in the area... and they're cheaper.. so instead of paying $9.50 per ticket you can get them at the bank for $6.
