$%$$% Jen, I KNEW there was something I wanted to watch! My friend likes it too and I meant to watch tonight. I tell you, I'm in a total fog. Maddie is walking? Wow, smart kid!
Peanut: It's so good to see one of your long posts we've missed you! First, good riddance to your brother (in the nicest way of course) It sounds like you/dad/paddy are doing just fine. I hate math too if it makes you feel any better. I never get that stuff right, when in doubt, make someone else do it...lol
Oh no, eagle is the teacher in the group...I don't think she'll like that I said that:P I forgot about Charlie and his chocolate factory...love him and the story! I've seen bits of Lost this season and all I can say is, what's with the silly subtitles?
Prague..can I come? And speaking of beauty, where is my pretty Alaska sky pics? Eagle? hmmm? **wanders over to Mahone thread and looks for the plug to pull** LOL
Enjoy your new car peanut!

Hi all! Happy St Paddy's Day! Not a lot to catch up on with me...Leah got a rejection letter from the college she wanted to go to, but her school says that the transcripts they gave us (they were sealed) may have been messed up. Also, she was at a magnet school in 9th grade that didn't grade normally (1-4 instead of 0-100), so that might have affected it. So I have to try to call the college and talk to them about it. Normally, I'd have her do it, to learn how to deal with stuff, but this is too important. Yeah, I'm controlling, so what?! Our finances are out the roof messed up. I finally got H to give me his bills to pay last summer, and I've reduced his debt about $8000, but I've still got $80,000 to go. Then the money we had invested and were borrowing against tanked in the stock market so we owed more than we had in there, so we had to pull out and pay of the money he had borrowed there. It's just all screwed up. But so far we still have jobs, thank God. I had some cysts on my scalp and finally went to a doctor for them, and one turned out to be skin cancer, but she says it's a simple procedure to get rid of it and it's not the bad kind. I just hope they don't shave my hair to get to it! Um...what else? I'm getting along better with my H, thank goodness, finally told him a couple weeks ago how miserable I was that he wouldn't help me with the house (he's barely touched it for repairs in 5 1/2 years, and he does NO housework), and that I'd just as soon move out than stay this way. Sunday, he spent the entire day working on the house! And I'm starting to go into panic mode about Leah leaving. She is halfway fine just staying here and going to junior college for 2 years, but I don't want her to miss out on the college experience. For some reason, she doesn't really care that much about all that. Such a good kid. That's about it. It's good catching up on everyone. I wish we could find some of the old-timers, too. I might do some research and see if I still have some old emails from them.

Hey all! Looks like I decided to check back in here at the right time, with all the other "oldies" coming over here. Not much new is going on with me. Work has been really busy lately, so I don't get much time to come on here and read or post. I really need to work on getting a computer at home! I think I'm going to take my tax refund money and put it towards that. Other than that, I'm just sort of hanging out and not doing much. It's finally getting nice out here (should be 70 today!), so I feel like I'm coming out of hibernation. Started going on walks again this weekend and again last night. I've gained a bit of weight the past year, so I need to (literally) get my @ss in gear and work it off. My niece is going to be a year old next month, which is hard to believe. I already bought her a little outfit for her present - a cute little summer dress I found at Target. I couldn't resist! It's unbelievable that it's almost been a year since she was born. I feel old. Alrighty, I should probably get back to work. I'll try to stop in more often...

Hey Jen, are you really a Leprechaun baby? In any case, happy birthday to you. Tell us about your day.
It's great to see peanut and cat FINALLY show up. And hep is back, too. Ya'll got me to come out of lurkerdom. I don't mind Cindy's Fox River Eight turning into Cindy's Fox River Eleven. Happy to see everyone.
Cindy: I think "kids" today have a sense of entitlement, hence the registering at Toys R Us thing. Stick to your guns and give the gift(s) you have already purchased and forget about being part of the "flock." The giftee should be (SHOULD BE) happy to receive any and all gifts, as every "giftee" should be. A couple of times I've gotten gifts for someone for a funeral, then I'm told later that a "group" gift was purchased, my name added to the card, so I owe X amount. Can't say I've been too happy about that.
Cat: What college was Leah interested in? Some time ago you did a road trip and visited several. At that time, she didn't have a course of study lined up yet, kept changing her field of interest. Has she pinpointed that yet? If not, doing the junior college thing is a good idea, gives one time to transition and think about the future instead of being dumped into some university quagmire. She can always transfer credits down the road to finish up at a four-year. Also, if she can live at home the first year or two, that's a plus all the way around.
Cindy and peanut: Those "popups" on "Lost" eps are only on the repeat from the week before. Because everything and everyone on that show are related in some way, the popups give explanations to tie people and events together. "Lost" is my favorite show this year. It's really some stunning writing, with lots of philosophical references as minute as what books a character is reading.
I've been watching a lot of television shows on DVD. Maybe we can get a separate chat room here for television? I know everyone watches something different, but we may have some common interests.
Cat: Your husband sounds like he is a child of the '60s/'70s ... men sit around and do whatever pleases them while the women cook, clean, do everything in support of them. Men don't need to share with "the little lady," and women don't have any problems worth a man's time, so keep them to yourself or share them with your "coffee klatch."
Gosh. I sound bitter.
Cindy: Can't believe you won even MORE tickets. Girl, you are amazing.
Sabina: I thought of you when "Inkheart" hit the big screen. It seems like something you would enjoy.

Hey guys. Thanks for all the birthday wishes. So far it could be better... Maddie decided she didn't want to nap today... and nap time is when Mommy gets ready for work, gets bottles washed, gets laundry done... well that got shot to he_ _. So there went my no fast food cuz that was all I had time for.. but my mother in law made me a cake to bring to work.. and my coworker got me a cake... so there's 2 cakes in the newsroom. Nothing like cake. And tomorrow it's supposed to be like 65 and MrDill doesn't have to go to work till 2 so we're going for a walk... lol to walk off all this cake.

Hey ginger!! Thanks for explaining what Cindy meant by 'subtitles'. Those popups sound interesting. They don't show them on the Irish television that broadcasts the new season of Lost. They sound distracting too though so don't know if i'd like 'em.
I'm really sorry i haven't been here before. I honestly didn't realise there was a board set up by Cindy. When i got her email the other day i remembered getting an email from her a ways back and like i said in my post, i clicked on the link and it brought me to TWOP boards so I was confused and didn't think of it again!
I'm an eejit!!!
Thanks for not giving up on me Cindy!!! I've missed you guys!
Cat, glad H seems to be finally realising he has to pull his weight too. Good for you also.
Sorry your bday isn't going aswell as you had hoped Jen! But i'm thrilled you got a cake!

I'll set up a television thread just for you if you like, and we can see if it "grows." Just so you all know, you are welcome to start any thread you like on here. It's an option for all.
This board also has a free "chatroom" option so if you ever want that, I'm happy to try to figure out how to set it up. Just let me know if you want it at any point. I view this board as "ours." I just happened to set it up, so you are all welcome to contribute in any way that suits you.
I'm just back from Fleetwood Mac. TERRIBLE show. I should have taken the $200 I was offered for them. Loud, annoying, bearly interacted with the crowd (extremely self-indulgent) so we left. It's an hr ride home and I was done there.
The good thing is, I met Mom there so that meant I took the bus to Toronto for the first time alone and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. I give full credit to people who were happy to help along the way, it made my life a little easier and it's good to see the good in people coming through.
Oh yes, the people beside us had beer and weed, a real treat :-P
Gingerbird: Now, I'm more excited about the silver bracelet I snagged this morning. It's really not too hard. Alot of people just assume they won't get through so don't call or think it's silly. My thing is, why pay for a concert/item if I don't have to? I save it for my vet bills:-)
Sorry to hear your b-day kind of "blew" Jen. LOL Hopefully tomorrow makes up for it and when in doubt, eat more cake! LOL
Gingerbird, glad you came out of lurkdom and a big "hello" to Hep who needs the computer..maybe I can win you one:P

I forgot to mention to nelra that I think moving to Maine is a great idea, for all the reasons nelra already stated. Plus, as peanut said, you can always move back. Do any and all adventures now, before you are tied down with a husband/wife, career job, house, kids. Eagle should be an inspiration for us all, to (cliche) "live your dream." I've always been fascinated by Maine (lobsters!), plus it will be so different from Missouri, people and architecture, and history. Do it, nelra, so we can live vicariously through you!
Thanks for the "tv room" Cindy. I plan to post there, and I also have lots to add to the "library" once I get a bit more energy. That will probably take a while!
Peanut, don't feel bad that you just showed up. Better late than never, and it's good for you that you were missed! (Cat, too.) I, for one, always enjoy your posts, and I'm glad to know your dad and Paddy and you are getting along okay, or as best as can be. We are always here to listen and not judge; you have some tough days ahead, so remember where your friends are. (Here!)
Okay, Cindy, I really have to start listening to the radio. Sorry Fleetwood Mac was a disappointment, but I can see how they could be self-indulgent. I wonder if they are touring now just for the money; they are a pretty old band.
So, was that GREEN beer and weed, Cindy?

Okay, I was just over at TWoP and I have to make fun of one of our members, who posted two days ago in The Yard to ask where everyone went. JenDill, I thought you knew everyone is over HERE now, especially since you are yourself! And the post was before your birthday, so you can't blame a cake-induced suger overload, or too much green beer. Or weed. Heh. (Or maybe you can?) LOL!

Hey cat, can you tell us the story of how "catperson" got banned at TWoP? We've all shared our own banning and reprimand stories upthread. I'm guessing you got in trouble somehow on a dancing thread since I never saw you post anything untoward on any PB links. Anyway, it's good to see the old names back in action here.
