I wanted to let you know that I've started a blog on live journal. I'm hoping to keep it updated throughout my Europe trip, but have no idea how much time/energy I'll have to keep it updated. I wasn't going to post the link until right before I left but if any of you have been to London and have ideas about the type of things I should do on my one day there, I'd love to hear about it. The day in London is pre-cruise so we have nothing booked yet. Also be aware that I tend to write very quickly to get things down while I'm in the midst of them, so you may find spelling/grammar/transition issues. My goal is to try to capture as much as I can as quickly as I can, so it's all fresh. If that kind of thing drives you mad, my blog isn't for you:-) I believe I have it set up for anyone to comment (no names required ) so feel free, or not. As is my policy here, I want everyone to feel comfortable. I'm going to "sticky" the thread so the link stays at the top. Thanks Cindy cindym99.livejournal.com/ETA: I have modified my settings to allow comments from everybody so that should allow people to post anonymously if they are so inclined. The only thing that will log in, is your computer IP number. Also, I know the kitty theme seems a little "hello kitty" and that I should be going with a more "mature" theme, but I just couldn't seem to help myself ;-)

Have fun on your trip. I am so behind on the board here. Hmm, London? Maybe go see a play or show? I loved the parks, Tower of London, the London Eye, or anything really.

Boooooo...internet access on the ship isn't free--originally I was told it was free in-room wi-fi. Total bummer so it looks like I will be out of touch after all--really sucks for my journaling experience (or lack there of) blah. free wi-fi at beginning B and B but doubt I will bring computer just for that

Boo! That stinks. I'd take the laptop anyway, and record journal entries as things happen, while they are fresh in your mind. Then, when you're home, you can still post an entry for each day of the trip. We want to read all about it, even if it is a couple of weeks later!

That would be my plan but when you can't carry stuff for yourself, you can be outvoted. I said it would be a big blow for me so I hope it counts for something! I can't write by hand nearly as quickly as I take things in.

Cindy, you had planned to take the laptop anyway, so TAKE IT. You can write your blog in Word to post later, plus keep your diary up-to-date as well as messages to us to post when you get Internet access. Do not accept being "out voted." That's ridiculous. Like I said, you had planned to take the computer, so FREAKING TAKE IT! Plus you can watch dvds on it during the flight, etc. And airports all have free wi-fi. So. There. *consider your b*tt kicked*
Use a backpack for taking things with you easily. When I was traveling a lot for business, I stuffed a small wallet in my backpack along with my camera and other "stuff," slung that over my back, attached my laptop to my roll-on suitcase that fit in the airplane overhead and I was good to go. The backpack was considered my "purse" and the overhead suitcase and laptop were my two carry-ons. If you are in a wheelchair, you can set the backpack on your lap; on crutches, put it on your back. A regular backpack can hold an amazing amount of travel necessities, and thieves cannot rip it off your back/shoulders like they could snatch a purse slung over an arm.
I hate purses, I never carry one. If I need space (like for cameras, notebooks, etc.), I use a backpack. If I don't, it all goes in my pocket ... cash, credit cards, chap stick, keys.
Bon voyage, Cindy!

Hey guys, not sure how many of you read my journal but live journal is having technical issues so I can't update right now. I'll give them til the weekend to resolve issues, otherwise I'll just move the thing. I don't want to (a lot of work/major pain) but they seem to have technical issues fairly often and it gets frustrating. I like LJ for it's "friendly" tone, but apparently the tech side of things is anything but friendly.

I was able to add to my journal tonight. Only thing I couldn't do was add a direct link to my pictures so if you want to view photobuckets pics you'll need to cut/paste the link into your browswer but I have put most of the pics directly into the journal anyway. I'm also working on a backup blog so if this happens again, you can just go over there. I will post the link when I'm caught up and both look the same. It's on a different server, so it should be a solid back up and you can just pick whatever one you want to look at as I will keep both updated. A bit of a pain, but it's better than being it being down for days at a time.
Thanks for your patience. Enjoy.

LOL Fish, I'm flattered. Here's the new blog link. Livejournal won't let me add stuff again, so it's stuck. I added new blurbs to the end of Holyhead and St Peter's Port today. St. Peter's Port direct link to photos was acting up for me a bit, but worked fine in explorer. If you get a blank screen once in the album, just hit a page # at the top and it will display the photos--may only happen with me since I have old version of firefox This blog also has direct links to posts on the right hand side so it's handy for hopping around. Enjoy, and if you have any problems with it please let me know. Sorry for all the delays. cindysblogonblogger.blogspot.com/Once LJ comes back I will update both and you can just choose whichever you prefer. ETA: Some pics didn't load in properly so I was getting only partial pics coming in thanks to LJ not displaying them properly as I was copying them over to the new blog. Hopefully, I deleted all of the partials and put new/whole pics in. If you notice a "broken" pic somewhere, please let me know

Hay All!
Leaving next Tuesday for my trip to the UK....Should have access the first week I'm there so planning to blog if I'm able. No pics til the end of the trip as it is just a small netbook I'm taking. Hope the wi-fi works with it ok.
I will post enough pics of our boys in the character thread to last while I'm away. I honestly thought about shutting the board down as traffic seems limited lately, but I still enjoy putting things up, so I'm fine with how things are. Maybe Fish can add in a few pics while I'm away.
Thanks
Cindy

Started putting pics up ---no direct link to photobucket anymore on either journal so it's tricker to put pics directly in journal means I have to keep on comp for a bit after I d/l but oh well. Mom is emailing me pics a bit at a time Eventually, I will d/l all on to disks but for now I'll do it this way

Slowly adding pics to journal entries...busy with radio crap right now but will try to consistently add things now so I can start moving through everything. It's a bit overwhelming trying to plow through over 1000 pics so please bear with me as Mom and I try to coordinate sharing pics/videos as I'm journaling.
Thanks

Hey all!
I finished my entry for the first 3 days in London so if you head back to that entry you will see more pics...
Please Note: My blog site was choking on all of the pics in the entry (taking forever to load) and it no longer supports my old browser and I had a boatload of trouble trying to upgrade my browser on a very old system (windows installer issue) So, the journal seemed to do better with fewer pics per entry...
What does all of that computer speak mean? I put the Oxford St pics (In London) in their own entry on blogger...I also did this for live journal after discovering that some pics didn't load in properly..all seems well now
Anyway, on to Deal next but we were VERY disappointed in Deal when we arrived so the next day we got on a bus lickety split and headed for...the white cliffs of DOVER. So, Dover is next pic wise.
Thanks
