No, I haven't seen Marley but it looks good, but if you were crying I'm betting the dog dies? Why must writers make everything die at the end? Oh hep I'd PAY to watch a vid of you in that play..lol Thank god I didn't grow up in the utube age....or my Mom would have vid of me reading the 3 bears to my class while sitting on the teacher's lap...I actually thought I wrote it because I copied it out of a book onto my own pieces of paper! ;D (yes, yes, I now know it's plagiarism ) Hee! That's cute about the 3 bears. I think a video might actually exist of that play. I'm still friends with (and actually work at the same place with) one of my friends from 4th grade. Her parents taped that thing. I think they might still have it. Eeek! That would be embarrassing. As for Marley, it is based on a true story, and the movie stays pretty faithful to the book. It's really sweet, though, and if you're a dog lover you'll totally "get it."

Oh no.. no line crossed... I've considered that but it's unfortunately just not the way this family works. We do birthdays for pretty much everyone and if we didn't plan something, they would. At least this way we have a say in it. I'm just frustrated.. sleep deprived... and cranky cuz aunt flo is here. So, does anyone have any good plans for this weekend? Ironically we are going to a birthday party... Jays grandmother, cousin and cousins husband. We're also going shopping (for said bday party) and joining the gym.

I saw the best show tonight in Niagara Falls. It was similar to Lord of the Dance, only I thought it was better. Won the tickets again, so a nice bonus..lol Man, it was freezing though. Ridiculous. And no lights on at the Falls, just makes it downright creepy with mist rising off the water in pitch black.
Jen: You have a lot of extended family weekends..I'd go crazy:-) I hear you on the gym. The one down the street is opening but just too much ice around for me to go check it out. No need to break my arm trying to get to the gym:-) Nothing else is working to get the 10 pds off I need to lose, so Spring better get here before I can't fit into anything I own.
Eagle, no clue how you stand the frigid cold. 5 days of it and I'm done.

Hey guys.
Holy sh!t it's cold!!! And, because I'm a bonafide idiot, I got up at 6:30 this morning to traipse out to the country side and surrounding area to do some photography (just got home). I was very bundled up though - layers upon layers upon layers and I still got a bit of frost bite I think. But it is for my camera club - today we're supposed to do black and white winter photography.
I loved LOVED "Marley and Me" - I read the book last year and I agree, the movie stayed pretty faithful to the book. I think they did the best job I've seen on film of a depiction of a 'real' family...and the way a real family behaves and works.

Oh Sabina, black and white is my fav type of picture, so rich with detail.
I hear you on the frost bite, we walked to a restaurant last night and I don't wear gloves when I'm using my crutches because it becomes too hard to get a good grip, so by the time we walked the block my hand was completely numb and so painful when it warmed up.
How lucky were those people that crashed on the Hudson? Quick response certainly saved them from sure frost bite.

Hey guys.
Those people were very very lucky.
So....someone broke into my car (via the front passenger side window). Jack offs. Luckily, after my car theft of two years ago, and my friend's car break in that same year (in the same place where mine was broken into today), I keep NOTHING of any monetary value (or personal value or my car ownership or anything) in the car. They didn't even get the parking-garage key. Suckers. Still..it's incredibly inconvenient, oh and FREEZING out there right now. But I called the police and my insurance and Apple Auto Glass. Hopefully it won't take them too long to replace the window. In the meantime I'm going to patch it up with heavy-duty clear plastic and duct tape. Ah...duct tape.
Getting a little sick of being a victim of automobile crime though. When I buy a house (going to start looking in the summer) I am getting a garage and a heavy-duty alarm system.

Wow Sabina that blows. I don't blame you for wanting a security system. Your insurance company must be sick of you..lol
I just got my house insurance bill and it went up AGAIN. No claims in 15 yrs means nothing.
great time to look for a house.
Stay warm all!

Sabina, wow, I really am sorry. I HATE car trouble. There have been two times when I've had to deal with people hitting my car in the parking lot while I was inside shopping and then running away. It's infuriating.

Thanks guys! =)
So whoever broke into my car went on a bit of spree - they broke into at least 4 others as well in the same parking garage. I met two of the other guys who were cleaning up their cars while my friend and I taped up mine.
I guess it could be worse, actually, I know it can be - getting your car stolen is 10 x worse. But still, pisses me off to no end.
Actually, I can't remember what my deductible is at the moment - but it may end up that I pay for all of the damage anyway, if it's not too expensive.
I don't know if it's because I live in London, or maybe it's the part of London I live in - it's not the best, but it's certainly not the ghetto either. Although I have witnessed a few drug deals, I think...and apparently the building manager found a dead body in my neighbouring apartment building yesterday. Suicide, not murder. Very sad though. Not sure if moving out of the "city" would really solve anything though - crime happens in smaller towns/country as well.

Sabina, there are good and bad parts of every city. I know that rural areas (where I am especially in the Alaskan Bush), suicides and depression are not uncommon. Sadly, neither are alcohol or drugs. Ironically, alcohol (which is legal) does FAR more damage to the rural population here in AK than any illegal drugs do. I wish you the best and the bottom line is if you feel safe, then just keep your eyes and ears open. However, if you feel nervous or anxious about where you live or your building, I would move on. Good luck!

Sabina: I've seen drug deals at bus stops and it's usually not who you would think it would be. It sucks if it comes out of your pocket. That's what bugs me. You do nothing wrong, yet it costs you money. Time to stay away from that garage. (Unless the guys fixing up their cars were cute:-)) It is sad about the suicide, probably far more common than we know.
Ita about the alcohol Eagle. My family has some members that drink too much (read alcoholics) and it does a lot of damage (to the point where I think about weather I want to bother being around them.) I don't drink at all (just don't like the taste) but I can see how it would be tempting for those who were sad/alone/desperate.

Hey Yeah, Eagle, I've lived in both small towns and larger cities and crime is everywhere, for sure. There's no real getting away from it. But I like parking in the garage!! I don't have to clean off my car in the morning! The one guy was cute, too. Sigh - anyway, I made myself a nice dinner to try to cheer myself up...roasted beets (first time I made them myself - with fresh garlic, thyme, salt and pepper and olive oil), basmati rice and lamb chops. =) I've told my boss I'll be late into work tomorrow - I want to get this car fixed ASAP. It's too cold to be driving around without a window for a long time. I wonder if this will work - I put up some of my black and white pictures on Facebook yesterday, here's a public link: www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2248724&l=869e1&id=120809404

Trying to catch up with everything.
Pets-I like them, but I am very allergic to them. Like if I go to my bff's house, after a few hours I will be very stuffy and it gets hard to breathe. So for me, fish are great pets, lol.
I am so done with the cold weather. I dont like the extremes of summer and winter. I like the nice spring and fall weather. I dont know if I would likeliving in a climate where it would be thhe same weather all year, like LA, a little variety is nice.
Sabina-That is horrible that you had your car messed with again, but at least you met a cute guy, lol.
I so need to find a new job. I am in sales and I really dont like it at all. I dont want a job where my review is based on mostly numbers and not how well I do the other aspects of my job. The problem is before numbers were never really focussed on and now that business is down, numbers are a big issue. My boss took me out to lunch to let me know my review is not going to be good. I took it as motivation to get out there and find a new job.

See, I don't get this attitude at all..I'll take my employee out to soften the blow? Why not take you out to encourage you and to tell you he (or she) is aware that there ARE other aspects to the job and praise you for your work in those areas too?
Maybe that's naive of me, but as you said, all it did was motivate you to look elsewhere.
I don't know. California sounds like heaven to me right now. This weather just keeps coming with weeks until we are out of it.
Did the 2 of you who didn't get secret santa happen to get them yet? If not, maybe Jen should email them to check if it's been mailed. It's getting late and I'd be concerned that the post office misplaced it at this point.

Cindy-I asked if the review was going to be THAT bad and he said I still meet expectations, but barely. Like they used a new formula to figure something out and it cut me a break. I was a bit upset since we were out to lunch having whatever conversation and then like mid-sentence he was like, bad review for you. He said I lack enthusiasiam(I cant even spell it lol), but I am a good fit for the company, but cant move to a different job until my numbers are up. So basically I need to move on. I knew there was not a future there for me, but the reality takes a bit to get used to it. I do so many little, extra things at work, making sure the paper is filled, paperwork is filled out, the shelves are stocked and basically that really doesnt count. I am so tempted to stop all of that, but sadly I dont think anyone would notice and I cant help but want to make sure all those things are done. He also said my reaction was off, I like I wasnt freaking out or whatever. I need to digest before I can really react.
My secret santa pm'ed me and assured me the gift is being sent, but needs to be put together still. It is all good.
